EJTN is pleased to announce its new cooperation with its long-lasting partner, the Academy of European Law (ERA), for implementing Court staff and bailiffs’ training in European civil and criminal law. Co-funded by the European Union, the project aims to implement a modern and practical approach to judicial training for European court staff and bailiffs.
The project will deal with EU civil and criminal law matters relevant to the judicial work of court staff and bailiffs and digitalisation skills. A total of 21 training activities, including both legal and language training events, are being organised, targeting 550 court staff and bailiffs.
Additionally, two e-tools for legal English and two training packages in EU civil and criminal law are being developed and will be available on the project’s website.
Series of language training events on European cross-border civil and criminal procedure
As a beneficiary of this project, EJTN will host four training activities in 2023 and 2024 on European cross-border civil and criminal procedures, including English language skills.
Besides acquiring legal and practical skills, participants will learn more about the EJTN training opportunities dedicated to court and prosecution staff.
About the project
Under the EU’s Justice Programme 2021-2027, EJTN and ERA are implementing a new training project for court staff and bailiffs in partnership with the Belgian Judicial Training Institute (IGO-IFJ), the Bulgarian National Institute of Justice (NIJ), and the Romanian National School of Clerks (NSC).
The project also receives the support of 13 national judicial training institutions and the European Union of Judicial Officers (UEHJ).
Recent studies and reports show that court staff and bailiffs receive insufficient training in EU law. Building on the knowledge and experience gained from the implementation of previous court staff training projects, and following the recommendations made in the recent “Study on the training needs of court staff on EU law in the EU”, EJTN, ERA and the other consortium members will address the deficiencies of court staff and bailiffs’ training by adopting a modern and practical approach to EU judicial training and by developing coherent and innovative training packages.
