2027 EJTN Project-Based Exchanges:  now open to judicial trainers

Meeting

On 1 September 2026, the European Judicial Training Network will launch the call for applications for the 2027 Exchange Programme.

This call will include Project-Based Exchangesoffered under a single, streamlined format, which brings together former bilateral and regional exchanges as well as judiciary learning grants.

Project-Based Exchanges allow participants to design their own exchange projects on topics of European and institutional relevance, such as the digitalisation of justice, judicial ethics, cross-border crime, or environmental justice.

They may be carried out individually or in small groups of two to five participants, with mixed professional profiles and nationalities. These exchanges take place in courts, prosecution offices or judicial training institutions across EU Member States and last between two and five working days.

Following the exchange, participants are encouraged to share outcomes at national and EU levels to promote knowledge transfer.

From 2027, trainers will join judges, prosecutors and court staff among the target groups. Acting as multipliers, they will enhance the dissemination of knowledge, innovative initiatives and best practices, helping to strengthen cooperation between national judicial training institutions.

Applications must be based on a project proposal submitted by the visiting applicant or group leader, including a hosting agreement and a draft agenda. Proposals are preselected by EJTN members and associate members before being submitted to the EJTN Secretariat for allocation, and are assessed based on quality, coherence and expected impact.

The application period will run from 1 September to 14 October 2026 (18:00 CEST).
