During 2024, the European Judicial Training Network published several important publications that serve as valuable resources to Europe’s Judges, Prosecutors and Court Staff. These publications are available free of charge on EJTN’s website.
EJTN Annual Report 2023
The first publication of the year, the 2023 Annual Report, highlighted a year full of remarkable achievements. With 917 activities delivered and 40,305.5 days of training provided, EJTN trained 9,320 judges, prosecutors, court staff, and trainers—a 29% increase in participants compared to 2022.
The report showcases milestones, such as a 33% rise in court staff participation, driven by contributions from Associate Members, and reinforced partnerships with key institutions like the EPPO, the CJEU, and the ECtHR. Highlights include new study visits, the refinement of the THEMIS Competition rules and the second edition of the prestigious Judges@Europe Forum, that brought together nearly 90 participants from 25 EU Member States.
In 2023, EJTN paved the way for digital transformation by equipping 14 Members with virtual classrooms and launching a new Working Group dedicated to digitalisation. These efforts, alongside EJTN’s commitment to judicial values, reflect its dedication to fostering a common European judicial culture and upholding the rule of law.

Judges@Europe: The Rule of Law and the Good Administration of Justice in the Digital Era
In July, ETJN published a comprehensive bilingual publication titled The Rule of Law and the Good Administration of Justice in the Digital Era. This groundbreaking publication, published by Larcier Intersentia, is the result of collaborative efforts from key judges, experts and institutions on the Rule of Law in the European Union.
Edited by Stanislas Adam, Ingrid Derveaux, Gianluca Grasso, and Fernando Vaz Ventura, with a foreword by Síofra O’Leary, the publication stems from the expert contributions and enriching discussions at the second edition of the Judges@Europe Forum held in October 2023 at the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights.
It examines the contemporary challenges in which good administration of justice and increased demand for judges’ accountability rise for judicial offices in the digital era. Those issues are examined from three different but complementary angles: judicial accountability through disciplinary proceedings, through performance in the digital era and through transparency.
