Online Conversation Classes: Call for participants for the new series to take place May-July 2024
Within the Linguistics portfolio, EJTN is launching the call for participants for the popular online conversation classes, the second series of 2024. The new series will run on Zoom from Monday, 6th May 2024, until Friday, 12th July 2024.
The classes are addressed to judges and prosecutors who already possess knowledge of a second language but wish to advance their skills for use in the workplace. Over ten weeks, expert instructors will engage participants in practical exercises and activities to improve their language skills. The focus of the webinars centers on listening and speaking. Languages offered are English (B1 and B2), French (B1 and B2), Spanish (B2), Italian (B2) and German (B2).
Activities envisioned for the course webinars include authentic language usage via:
- legal case review and discussion.
- discussion and comparison of laws between member states.
- apply existing 2nd language skills in a professional context.
The objectives of the classes comprise:
- engage in applied use of spoken language through active use in online dialogue with peers in similar roles.
- acquire a more profound comprehension and use of legal terminology and jurisprudence through exercises and activities.
- evidence advancement of knowledge through interactive weekly activities and an end-of-course presentation to allow participants to gauge their advancement.
Judges and Prosecutors interested in participating in the online conversation classes should contact their National Contact Points; NCP will register the participant in our OSP platform. Courses will not exceed more than 10 participants. The deadline for application is 12 April 2024.
