In mid November, the Linguistics portfolio of EJTN held a seminar entitled ‘Legal language training in cooperation in civil matters’.
The seminar was hosted by the Scuola Superiore della Magistratura at its premises at Castel Capuano in the historic centre of Naples, Italy. The seminar had the biggest attendance since the EJTN could re-start the face-to-face activities; 47 participants including experts from 15 countries of the EU.
In this week-long intensive course, participants are divided into small groups to promote interaction and study either legal English or legal French. In addition to learning legal terminology, participants also discuss practical cases and the European judicial cooperation tools in civil matters.
Two such seminars will also take place in 2022 and apart from English and French also legal Spanish will be offered. We will keep you updated in that regard and publish the registration links for the upcoming event on our website.
If you didn’t have the chance to participate but still want to improve your linguistic skills feel free to have a look at our Civil Linguistics Handbook (French version is also available) or other interesting tools and handbooks in our Methodologies and Resources Database.
