Advancing gender equality in justice through judicial training

Meeting

Gender equality is an important issue across all sectors of society, including the justice system. It relates both to the treatment of litigants and to equality within judicial institutions themselves. Training is essential to promote equal rights, equal opportunities, and inclusive professional environments in the justice sector.

Since 2024, the European Judicial Training Network has continuously strengthened its commitment to promoting gender equality across European justice systems and advancing women’s representation in justice through dedicated training activities. A special project on ‘Women in Justice and Gender Equality’, led by the EJTN Working Group on Judicial Training Methods, has been established as a coordinated forum to discuss these issues and develop training activities on this important topic.

In 2026, EJTN will continue to highlight gender equality issues through a number of training activities:

  • Lunchtime Webinar: Embracing Your Expertise: Understanding Imposter Syndrome and Building Professional Confidence (12 March 2026)
  • Online training: Prejudice and Gender Bias (13 April 2026)
  • Lunchtime Webinar: Let’s Talk About Menopause (18 June 2026)
  • Seminar: Women in Leadership (19–20 November 2026 – to be confirmed)
  • Seminar: Victims’ Rights in the EU in Practice: Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence – Introductory (3–4 December 2026 – to be confirmed)

For more information on each activity, please visit the EJTN Online Training Catalogue.

Gender equality in justice has also been highlighted on EJTN’s social media channels through a dedicated campaign – follow us on LinkedInInstagram and Facebook to receive the latest updates.
