On 5-7 June, the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) held a seminar titled ‘Virtual Reality in Judicial Training’ in Pirna, Germany, which effectively demonstrated VR’s potential to revolutionise judicial training by modernising training methods and ensuring legal professionals are well-equipped to meet the challenges of contemporary judicial practice.

This groundbreaking seminar, held with the financial support from the Justice Programme of the European Union, explored the integration of Virtual Reality (VR) tools in judicial training, thus providing Judges, Prosecutors and Court staff with innovative and immersive learning experiences.

The topics covered during this 3-day seminar included, among others, the history and development of Virtual Reality, the psychology and methodology of VR learning, the impact of VR on judicial practice, and considerations for health and safety. The participants also had the opportunity to attend workshops focused on training and education in VR, including case studies and interactive sessions on the VR Training System (VRTS) and storytelling, along with hands-on experience in creating VR content, such as shooting VR training scenarios and editing VR films.

The seminar equipped the participants with comprehensive insights and critical and analytical skills necessary for VR training, including data analysis, scenario design, and performance evaluation.
