Next series of EJTN online conversation classes to launch in May

Meeting

The next series of online conversation classes by the European Judicial Training Network will take place between 11 May 2026 and 17 July 2026.

The classes, held via Zoom, are open to EU judges and prosecutors who are from member institutions of EJTN and who already speak a second language but would like to improve their conversation skills. Applications must be done through the relevant EJTN national member institution.

The call for applications is being launched now and the deadline for applications is 22 April 2026.

This series will also include an English class level B2 reserved for Court staff.

How are the courses organised?

EJTN is offering conversation classes in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. During each 10-week course, participants will meet online for a weekly 60-minute Zoom class, focused on listening and speaking skills.

The number of participants will be limited to 10 per course, to ensure that all students can actively practice their language skills and engage with their peers in a small group environment. An expert language instructor with a background in judicial concepts will guide participants through different activities. These will include reviews and discussions of legal cases, exchanges about laws in different Member States, and the use of second language skills in a professional context. The schedule will vary, with lessons taking place at 09.00-10.00 CEST; 10.00-11.00 CEST, 11.00-12.00 CEST and 11.30-12.30 CEST.

Objectives of the Online Conversation Classes

Participants will acquire a deeper understanding of legal terminology and case law while developing their ability to communicate in another language through a combination of exercises and online conversation practice with peers in similar roles.

The courses will include weekly interactive activities. A certificate of attendance is provided to all participants who completed the course in full.

Prerequisites

B1 or B2 proficiency is a prerequisite for English and French language classes.
