First call for applications for 2026 study visits launched

The European Judicial Training Network is pleased to launch the first call for applications for study visits taking place in the first semester of 2026.

These study visits are open to judges, prosecutors, court and prosecution staff, as well as judicial trainers from EU Member States.

In collaboration with four partner institutions, EJTN will organise eight study visits during this period.

If you are interested in taking part, please visit our online application platform and submit your application by 17 December 2025 (18:00 Brussels time).

EJTN covers participation through its financial support system. Full details of the applicable financial conditions are available here.

A second call for applications will be launched in mid-April 2026 for study visits planned in the second semester of 2026. 

European Public Prosecutor’s Office 

The study visit will offer prosecutors, investigative judges, and criminal law judges an in-depth case study, enhancing their understanding of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office’s operations. The visit will focus on practical applications within prosecutorial and judicial processes.  

An additional study visit to the European Public Prosecutor’s officewill be organised combined with a study visit to the Court of Justice of the European Union in May (see below).

European Court of Human Rights 

Study visits to theEuropean Court of Human Rightsaim to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the ECHR, including its functioning and case law.

Court of Justice of the European Union 

Study visits to theCourt of Justice of the European Unionare a long-term tradition in the EJTN Exchange Programme. These visits aim to equip participants with a more in-depth understanding of the Court’s powers, organisation and functioning.

The study visit to EU institutions in Brussels is organised withthe European Commission, theCouncil of the European Union, theEuropean Parliament and theEuropean Anti-fraud Office(OLAF).

General information 

Please note that the selection process of all Exchange Programme participants is the prerogative of EJTN Member and Associate Member institutions.   

Launched in 2005, at the initiative of the European Parliament, the Exchange Programme for Judicial Authorities allows judges, prosecutors, court staff and trainers from different EU Member States to improve their knowledge of other judicial systems through direct contact and exchange of views and experiences.   

The Exchange Programme also aims at developing a common European judicial culture based on mutual trust and cooperation between judicial authorities in the European judicial area.
